Japanese Dance Troop Works With Projected Graphics (video)

This is pretty incredible! The choreography between the dancers and the light projections are spot on!

"Japanese performance troupe enra has not only paved the way but perfected their signature style of combining live action with projected graphics. Founder and performance artist Nobuyuki Hanabusa has had a far-reaching influence and his techniques have been reworked (with and without his consent) both domestically and abroad. His latest piece, titled “primitive,” is anything but. Watch as the synchronized dance moves sync perfectly with the digital projection.

He performs alongside his other members – a diverse group of artists specializing in “Kung-fu, acrobatics, ballet, juggling, rhythmic gymnastics and animation dance.”

Pez Hacking: Get Your Own Pez Head!

Have you ever wanted a Pez dispenser with your head on it?!?! Um, yes please! Hot Pop Factory based out of Toronto can do just that for you. They are actually a 3-D jewelry printing company that stumbled upon genius idea of creating your likeness on a Pez dispenser...Pez Hacking as they like to call it.

What's fascinating is that they use an XBox Kinect to render your 3D scan. Who knew the multiple uses of the XBox Kinect? Brilliant idea! Time to get a 3D printer.

Walkman Comes Back With A Splash! (video)

Remember Sony Walkman? Well, they are back and making quite a splash with the NWD-W270,their new waterproof MP3 playing headphones. Go swim, row, or just go sweat it out and don't worry anymore about your headphones.

The earlier version of this headphone had a few glitches that they have now refined. This model is thinner, lighter and the volume is better. I love the design and look forward to hearing the sound quality. This is expected to be released in February in Japan, and hopefully roll-out worldwide in the following months.

Tokyo Shimbun (newspaper) Goes Interactive For Adults and Kids (video)

Reading, education and news are so important for everyone - adults and kids. Tokyo Shimbun has created an interactive app that allows parents to share the newspaper with their kids. It's fun, creative, interactive and most of all educating and encouraging adults and children to spend quality time together. I hope they do this all over the world soon with not just newpapers, but also magazines, books, direct mail, etc.

Cool Glass Floor Changes Gymnasiums For Any Sport (video)

This is pretty incredible. I can't believe this isn't implemented in every school! Oh wait, there's that small problem called budgets and lack of school funding especially for arts, sports and anything recreational. Anyway...

German company ABS Systembau has created a glass floor system that features embedded lights to mark the outlines for a variety of different sports. "“Video messages or scoreboards under the floor are only the beginning. The whole surface can be turned into one big screen. The possibilities for presentation and advertising are as versatile and innovative as ever seen before.” "

This video is a little long and it a little technical, but it's a cool way to see how this floor works.

Lifelogging?

I love all the new self-quantification tools on the rise, but I thought the Memoto probably went too far. But I've rethought my position. This would not be some narcissistic overkill. It would not be about the thousands of images of blah you'd get every year, but rather those half dozen moments of pure wonder you'd have otherwise lost forever. I doubt I'm going to be wearing one anytime soon, but I'm on-board with these Swedes.
