King Kelly - A Digital Dilemma Shot Mostly By iPhones

A friend recently told me about a film her friend showcased at SXSW called King Kelly. What makes the film interesting is not so much the scandalous storyline about a blonde who documents her sex-related activities and broadcasts from her family's basement, but more so about a generation of young people who "face the danger of filming ourselves to death" (Indiewire's Eric Kohn).

The conversations it is bound to bring up is not about the quality of the film, but rather the realities of the digital dilemma where people have to police themselves and create their own boarders of what is acceptable to broadcast or not. With smart-phones in hand, we can all be reporters, journalists, exhibitionists, but it's when and where you draw the line. Although pointed mostly at millennials, this film is not the first time we've heard about the self exploitation and narcissism of this generation, but it's one of the first times we've seen a film devoted to this.

I have not seen the film i its entirety, but questions already arise about the realities of where technology is taking us...can we areally "film ourselves to death"?

For more, check out King Kelley.
