American Style Cookies...huh?

Dawn Foods is an international baking supply company started in Jackson, Michigan. They now supply baked goods around the world. And recently we hear that they are launching an "American style cookie" for the UK market (via FDIN).
I wondered...what makes a cookie "American style".
Marketing manager of Dawn, Jacqui Passmore, said:
“Our new American style cookie ranges are a real ‘taste sensation’"
Flavors include Triple Belgian Chocolate Chunk, Belgian Chocolate Chunk, Belgian White Chocolate Chunk, Cranberry and Belgian White Chocolate Chunk, Oatmeal and Raisin.
What makes these "American"? They don't seem like American classics to me.
Hmm...So, are "American style" cookies richer, more indulgent, chunkier and tastier? But hey, if that's "American", I'm okay with that. I feel bad for other countries and their cookies!
What do you think "American style" is in the cookie category? Let us know here or via twitter @brandeffervesce
(Maybe they have to have at least 10g of fat and 1000 calories per cookie?)
